Taking a AWS exam: scheduling, proctoring, retakes & refunds

The exam itself is the one cost you can't avoid — so don't lose it to a missed reschedule window or a failed proctoring check. Here is how this vendor's exams actually work, every policy sourced and dated. Policies change; confirm the current terms before you schedule.

How you take it

AWS Certification exams are delivered through Pearson VUE, either at a test center or online-proctored (OnVUE), with 24x7 online proctoring in English.

Scheduling & rescheduling

You can reschedule up to 24 hours before your scheduled time at no fee, and each appointment can be rescheduled twice before you must cancel and rebook. Cancel more than 24 hours before to get the exam fee refunded.

Refunds & cancellation

Cancel or miss within 24 hours and the fee is forfeited with no refund.

Retakes

If you fail, you must wait 14 calendar days before retaking, and you pay the full registration fee for each attempt — there is no limit on attempts. After you pass, you cannot retake the same exam for two years.

Online proctoring: what to have ready

One primary government ID, a required system test beforehand, and NO breaks — you may not leave the camera's view for any reason, including a restroom break, for the whole exam. Breaking Pearson VUE's rules can end the exam with no refund or reschedule.

Getting your results

Official results post to your AWS Certification Account within five business days after the exam closes (longer if held for review) — not an immediate score.

Testing accommodations

Reasonable accommodations are granted for documented disabilities; non-native English speakers can request a 30-minute extension. Request before booking via Pearson VUE.
