Taking a EC-Council exam: scheduling, proctoring, retakes & refunds
The exam itself is the one cost you can't avoid — so don't lose it to a missed reschedule window or a failed proctoring check. Here is how this vendor's exams actually work, every policy sourced and dated. Policies change; confirm the current terms before you schedule.

How you take it
The CEH knowledge exam is multiple-choice (125 questions, 4 hours) delivered online via the ECC exam portal; the CEH Practical is a 6-hour hands-on exam on the iLabs Cyber Range. Vouchers come in a Pearson VUE (test center) flavor and an ECC Exam Center / Remote Proctoring flavor.
Scheduling & rescheduling
Not published on EC-Council's policy index; rescheduling is governed by your chosen delivery platform (Pearson VUE or the ECC remote-proctoring service) — confirm the deadline there before you book.
Refunds & cancellation
Not published on EC-Council's policy index; EC-Council vouchers are valid 1 year from release and non-transferable. Confirm refund terms with your voucher/delivery platform before purchase.
Retakes
Retakes are paid — you must purchase a (discounted) ECC Exam Center retake voucher; there is no free retake. There is no wait before the 2nd attempt, then a 14-day wait before the 3rd, 4th, and 5th attempts, with a maximum of 5 attempts per 12 months before a 12-month wait. Passers cannot retake the same exam version.
Online proctoring: what to have ready
Remote Proctoring Services are available (and a free upgrade to remote proctoring is offered to ETC voucher holders requesting accommodation). Specific environment-check details are set by the delivery platform.
Getting your results
Not confirmed on a fetched EC-Council page; the CEH knowledge exam is multiple-choice, so a score is typically shown promptly — verify on EC-Council's results policy.
Testing accommodations
Accommodations are ADA-compliant and require a two-part form (you plus a licensed healthcare professional) submitted at least 30 days before exam registration; EC-Council responds within 14 days.
