Taking a ISACA exam: scheduling, proctoring, retakes & refunds

The exam itself is the one cost you can't avoid — so don't lose it to a missed reschedule window or a failed proctoring check. Here is how this vendor's exams actually work, every policy sourced and dated. Policies change; confirm the current terms before you schedule.

How you take it

ISACA certification exams (CISA, CISM) are computer-based, 4 hours and 150 multiple-choice questions, taken at authorized PSI testing centers or as remotely-proctored PSI exams.

Scheduling & rescheduling

Reschedule with no penalty any time during your eligibility if done at least 48 hours before the appointment; within 48 hours you must sit the exam or forfeit the registration fee. A documented personal-hardship exception can be requested through PSI within 72 hours.

Refunds & cancellation

Exam fees are non-refundable and non-transferable, and are forfeited if you don't test within the 6-month eligibility window, miss the appointment, or arrive more than 15 minutes late. A one-time US$75 six-month extension is available.

Retakes

You may attempt up to 4 times in a rolling 12-month period and pay the full fee each time, with waits of 30 days after a first failure and 90 days after the second and third.

Online proctoring: what to have ready

For the PSI remote option: a government photo ID matching your registration (no digital IDs), a mandatory 360-degree room scan plus desk, floor-to-ceiling, and monitor-edge mirror checks, a quiet room with no one else present, a clear desk (no notes, electronics, food, or water), and a face-camera throughout with an English-language live-chat proctor. Check in up to 30 minutes early; more than 15 minutes late is an automatic no-show. Two breaks of up to 10 minutes are allowed with proctor permission, but the timer keeps running.

Getting your results

You get a preliminary pass/fail on screen immediately; the official scaled score (200-800, pass is 450) is emailed and posted online within 10 working days. There are no question-level results.

Testing accommodations

Special accommodations are requested during registration and approved before scheduling; the form is completed by you and a health-care professional and submitted at least 4 weeks before your preferred date.
